Jan. 14 — The Public Attorneys Office (PAO) in Davao Region finally reopened its Baganga District Office with the appointment of one lawyer last Monday.

PAO Davao chief Francis Calatrava assigned in Baganga lawyer Apple Cherrie Amolata, who will be handling the Regional Trial Court (RTC) and the Municipal Trial Court (MTC) in Baganga, the Municipal Circuit Trial Courts (MCTC) in Cateel and Boston, Manay, Taragona and Caraga.

"Daghan kaayo siya ug courts (She has to handle so many courts) but I am so happy that we now have our office in Baganga which was closed since August 2004, for almost six years," Calatrava said.

Calatrava said Davao Oriental Governor Corazon Malanyaon was instrumental in the reopening of the district office.

"In Davao City alone, we have 15 lawyers for 18 courts. But, I'm prohibited from handling a court because I have to supervise and oversee the lawyers and the staff all over the region," Calatrava explained. (PNA) FFC/JLC/lvp

Meanwhile, Calatrava said the PAO Davao still needs additional lawyers for assignments in Digos and Malita in Davao del Sur; and Tagum and Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte.
